Controlling Infectious Diseases: The Decisive Phase Effect on a Seasonal Vaccination Strategy

Jorge Duarte et al.

Summary: Research has shown that under seasonal variation, the incidence rates of certain endemic infectious diseases fluctuate dramatically, often exhibiting chaotic oscillations, which are generally viewed as undesirable in epidemiology due to their unpredictability. Controlling chaos in the dynamic of infectious diseases can be achieved through weak perturbations on seasonal vaccination strategies, with the phase difference between periodic contact rates and vaccination playing a crucial role.

Torus-Breakdown Near a Heteroclinic Attractor: A Case Study

Luisa Castro et al.

Summary: This study reports numerical experiments on a symmetric vector field family with explicit parameters, revealing the existence of strange attractors and the mechanism of attracting torus destruction. Although a complete understanding of the bifurcation diagram and the mechanisms underlying the dynamical changes is out of reach, the research uncovers complex patterns for the symmetric family.
