New Therapeutics for Hepatitis B: The Road to Cure

Susanna Naggie et al.

Summary: Chronic hepatitis B virus infection affects an estimated 257-291 million people globally, with current treatment approaches being complex and lacking in durable effects, leading to low uptake rates. Multiple targeted therapies are being studied to achieve persistent HBV suppression within a finite period of treatment.

The Mechanisms of HBV-Induced Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Yu Jiang et al.

Summary: Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common malignancy in which hepatitis B virus (HBV) plays a major role in promoting disease progression and malignant transformation of liver cells. Research on HBV-associated HCC (HBV-HCC) has identified various mechanisms, including HBV gene integration, genomic instability, and activation of cancer-promoting signaling pathways. As research progresses, new mechanisms such as epigenetics, exosomes, autophagy, metabolic regulation, and immune suppression are also being explored for their roles in the occurrence and development of HBV-HCC.

2021 American College of Rheumatology Guideline for the Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Liana Fraenkel et al.

Summary: This guideline provides updated recommendations for the pharmacologic management of rheumatoid arthritis, including the use of disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs), glucocorticoids, and considerations for high-risk populations. The recommendations are not prescriptive and should be made through a shared decision-making process based on individual values, goals, preferences, and comorbidities.

Glucocorticoids in T cell development, differentiation and function

Matthew D. Taves et al.

Summary: Glucocorticoids have dual effects on the immune system, promoting and suppressing T cell immunity. They shape T cell responses in various ways, such as selecting appropriate T cell receptor self-affinities and regulating T cell trafficking between anatomical compartments.
