Enantioselective Deaminative Alkylation of Amino Acid Derivatives with Unactivated Olefins

Shang-Zheng Sun et al.

Summary: Here, we report the first Ni-catalyzed enantioselective deaminative alkylation of amino acid and peptide derivatives with unactivated olefins. A new sterically encumbered bis(oxazoline) ligand backbone was discovered, offering a de novo technology for accessing enantioenriched sp(3)-sp(3) linkages via sp(3) C-N functionalization. This protocol has a broad scope and generality, even applicable for late-stage functionalization. Additionally, an enantioselective deaminative remote hydroalkylation reaction of unactivated internal olefins is achievable, providing an entry point for forging enantioenriched sp(3)-sp(3) centers at remote sp(3) C-H sites.

NiH-Catalyzed Reductive Hydrocarbonation of Enol Esters and Ethers

Xiao-Xu Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a new method for the synthesis of chiral dialkyl carbinols was reported. The cross-coupling reaction between alkyl and aryl with enol esters and ethers was catalyzed by NiH, achieving the formation of C-C bonds with simple operations and a broad substrate scope.

Chiral Alkyl Amine Synthesis via Catalytic Enantioselective Hydroalkylation of Enecarbamates

Deyun Qian et al.

Summary: A nickel-catalyzed hydroalkylation method has been developed to assemble a wide range of chiral alkyl amines with high regio- and enantioselectivity from enecarbamates and alkyl halides. The method is suitable for both nonactivated and activated alkyl halides, producing enantiomerically enriched amines with high functional group tolerance.

Enantioselective C(sp3)-C(sp3) cross-coupling of non-activated alkyl electrophiles via nickel hydride catalysis

Srikrishna Bera et al.

Summary: The enantioselective cross-coupling of non-activated alkyl halides with alkenyl boronates enables the synthesis of chiral alkyl boronates, which is a useful method for drug development. This reaction proceeds via nickel hydride insertion into an internal alkene followed by nickel-catalysed alkyl-alkyl cross-coupling.

Diverse Synthesis of Chiral Trifluoromethylated Alkanes via Nickel-Catalyzed Asymmetric Reductive Cross-Coupling Fluoroalkylation

Yue Min et al.

Summary: A nickel-catalyzed asymmetric trifluoroalkylation of aryl iodides was described for the first time, demonstrating high efficiency, mild conditions, and excellent functional group tolerance, especially for substrates containing diverse pharmaceutical and bioactive molecules moieties. This strategy provided an efficient and facile way for diversity-oriented synthesis of chiral trifluoromethylated alkanes.

Enantioselective access to chiral aliphatic amines and alcohols via Ni-catalyzed hydroalkylations

Shan Wang et al.

Summary: Chiral aliphatic amine and alcohol derivatives are difficult to access due to the challenge to differentiate between spatially and electronically similar alkyl groups. By utilizing a nickel-catalyzed enantioselective hydroalkylation, enantioenriched alpha-branched aliphatic acyl amines and esters can be efficiently synthesized with good yields and excellent enantioselectivity.

Dual Nickel- and Photoredox-Catalyzed Reductive Cross-Coupling to Access Chiral Trifluoromethylated Alkanes

Pan Zhou et al.

Summary: The dual nickel/photoredox-catalyzed enantioselective reductive cross-coupling of aryl halides with CF3-substituted racemic alkyl electrophiles has been developed, allowing access to a variety of chiral CF3-containing compounds. The mild conditions and absence of Grignard reagents or stoichiometric metallic reductants make this transformation highly potential for late-stage functionalization of complex molecules.
