Fiber Bragg Grating Wavelength Drift in Long-Term High Temperature Annealing

Dan Grobnic et al.

Summary: High-temperature-resistant fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) are main competitors to thermocouples as sensors in high temperature environments, providing reliable short-term sensing information but long-term functionality is affected by wavelength drift. No credible description of the high-temperature wavelength drift process yet exists.

Efficient point-by-point Bragg grating inscription in sapphire fiber using femtosecond laser filaments

Xizhen Xu et al.

Summary: SFBGs fabricated using filamentation process exhibit enhanced reflectivity and increased cross-sectional area of refractive index modulations. The fabrication process is efficient and cost-effective, with a production time of only 1.1 seconds. These high-temperature resistant SFBGs can be utilized as quasi-distributed high-temperature sensors, showing great potential in various industries such as metallurgical, chemical, and aviation.

Sapphire-Derived Fiber Bragg Gratings for High Temperature Sensing

Qi Guo et al.

Summary: In this paper, a sapphire-derived fiber (SDF) with specific core and cladding diameters was fabricated and fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) with high reflectivity were prepared. Analysis indicated that the SDF is a graded refractive index few-mode fiber. The SDF exhibited higher temperature and strain sensitivities compared to quartz single-mode fiber, making it suitable for high-temperature sensing and high-power laser applications.
