Effects of Probe Laser Intensity on Co-Magnetometer Operated in Spin-Exchange Relaxation-Free Regime

Yang Fu et al.

Summary: This article theoretically and experimentally studies the optimization of probe laser intensity working point in the spin-exchange relaxation-free (SERF) regime for a co-magnetometer. By establishing the error equation of the output signal considering the probe laser pumping effect based on the steady-state solution of the Bloch equation, a method for real-time measuring the pumping rate of the probe laser is presented. Combined with measurement results, a method for quickly finding the optimal working point for the probe laser intensity is also proposed. The experiments verify the accuracy of the deduced law and demonstrate that an appropriate probe laser intensity working point can effectively reduce signal noise and bias instability of the SERF co-magnetometer.

Atomic Spin Polarization Controllability Analysis: A Novel Controllability Determination Method for Spin-Exchange Relaxation-Free Co-Magnetometers

Zhuo Wang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the controllability of atomic spin polarization in SERFCMs. The Bloch equations are used to describe the dynamic behavior of spin polarization in atomic spin ensemble systems. A state-space model is established for the atomic spin polarization in SERFCM, which belongs to a class of nonlinear systems. A novel determination method for global state controllability is proposed and implemented in the analysis of the atomic spin polarization. A theoretically feasible control input solution is proposed under physical constraints to achieve more practical and accurate controller design. The simulation results validate the proposed controllability determination method.

Search for axion-like dark matter with spin-based amplifiers

Min Jiang et al.

Summary: This study reports on the search for axion-like dark matter using a quantum sensor with enhanced potential signals. By utilizing hyperpolarized long-lived nuclear spins as pre-amplifiers, the study achieved ultrahigh magnetic sensitivity and constrained the parameter space of interactions between nucleons and axion-like particles. The experiment significantly improved on previous laboratory constraints and exceeded bounds from astrophysical observations.

Analysis of uncertainties of a cold-ytterbium atomic frequency standard using operational parameters of its optical lattice

A. Semenko et al.

Summary: The study assessed the impact of optical lattice laser field parameters on the systematic uncertainty of precision clock transition frequency measurements in a cold-ytterbium atomic frequency standard. It investigated the spectrum and polarisation of the laser field directly in the spatial region of interaction with ytterbium atoms, estimating the Stark shift of the clock transition near the magic wavelength of the laser based on experimentally measured laser field intensity in the dipole approximation. These estimates were then used to calculate the residual systematic uncertainty in the light shift of the optical lattice laser frequency.
