Application of nonlocal modified couple stress to study of functionally graded piezoelectric plates

F. Attar et al.

Summary: This paper investigates a size-dependent functionally graded piezoelectric plate model based on the combination of modified couple stress and nonlocal elasticity theories, named nonlocal modified couple stress theory. By comparing the effects of various parameters on normalized natural frequencies, conclusions about free vibration are drawn.

Optical properties and diamagnetic susceptibility of a hexagonal quantum dot: impurity effect

H. R. Rastegar Sedehi et al.

Summary: This study investigated a hexagonal quantum dot with a hydrogenic donor impurity, determining energy eigenvalues and eigenstates using the finite element method. Various properties such as binding energy, absorption coefficients, and refractive index changes were calculated under different impurity locations, showing significant impacts on electronic, optical, and thermodynamic properties.

The effect of rashba spin-orbit interaction on optical far-infrared transition of tuned quantum dot/ring systems

P. Hashemi et al.

Summary: Theoretical investigation of the optical properties of tuned quantum dot/ring systems with consideration of the effect of Rashba spin-orbit interaction reveals that the impact rate of spin-orbit interaction on the optical properties is related to the quantum dot radius, depth of confining potential, and the Rashba coupling constant. Results also show that the total absorption coefficient is enhanced and shifts toward higher energies with the consideration of the effect of Rashba spin-orbit interaction, while the effect on the peak values of the refractive index changes is negligible.
