Zinc phthalocyanine carrying sulfenyl and sulfydryl functionalized sulfur vacancies MoS2 for enhancement of the third order nonlinear optical property

Wanlu Li et al.

Summary: Zinc phthalocyanine was used to functionalize sulfur vacancies of MoS2, leading to the synthesis of MoS2/ZnPc composite. This composite showed higher third order nonlinear absorption coefficients and lower limiting thresholds compared to individual MoS2 or ZnPc, due to a combination of various nonlinear absorption mechanisms.

Impact of different auxochromes hydroxyl and methyl on two photon absorption coefficients and ultrafast dynamics of near-infrared hemicyanine dyes

Tianchen Yu et al.

Summary: This study synthesized two near-infrared hemicyanine compounds and investigated their third-order nonlinear optical absorption properties, revealing that one compound had a stronger NLO response than the other, which was attributed to the difference in auxochrome. Additionally, femtosecond transient absorption spectroscopy results showed variations in excited-state lifetime caused by different auxochromes.

Nonlinear optical properties of meso-Tetra(fluorenyl)porphyrins peripherally functionalized with one to four ruthenium alkynyl substituents

Xu Zhang et al.

Summary: The synthesis of a series of four porphyrin derivatives based on a meso-tetrafluorenylporphyrin core functionalized with organoruthenium endgroups is reported. The multipolar assemblies show potential electron-donors at the periphery and potential electron-acceptors at the central core. The extended networks incorporating polarizable organometallic units behave as nonlinear absorbers in the near-IR range, and the role of peripheral transition metal centers on the third-order NLO properties is discussed.

Two-photon absorption of perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid diimides: Effect of substituents in the bay

Ines F. A. Mariz et al.

Summary: This study explores the enhancement of nonlinear optical response in small organic molecules by examining the two-photon absorption (TPA) properties of perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic acid diimides (PDIs) with different substituents. The research finds that tetra-phenoxy bay-substituted PDIs with an A-PDI-A architecture exhibit significantly higher TPA cross-section compared to planar unsubstituted PDIs, despite their distortion from planarity.
