Critical Role for Hepatocyte-Specific eNOS in NAFLD and NASH

Rory P. Cunningham et al.

Summary: The regulation of hepatic endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) plays an important role in the development of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and progression to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Reduced hepatic eNOS expression may be associated with impaired hepatic mitochondrial function and mitophagy in patients with NAFLD/NASH.
