Classical and quantum speed limits

Katarzyna Bolonek-Lason et al.

Summary: The new bound on quantum speed limit, calculated in terms of relative purity, is derived by applying the original Mandelstam-Tamm method to the evolution in the space of Hilbert-Schmidt operators acting in the initial space of states. It is shown to be the quantum counterpart of the classical speed limit derived in Phys. Rev. Lett. 120 (2018), 070402, with the limit of h approaching 0 yielding the latter. The existence of a classical limit is found to be related to the degree of mixing of the quantum state.

Non-Markovian dynamics control of spin-1/2 system interacting with magnets

Ying-Jie Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, the dynamics control of spin systems interacting with magnets was investigated, revealing that the evolution of the spin system can transition from Markovian to non-Markovian dynamics and from no-speedup to speedup evolution in these models. The stronger non-Markovianity in the spin-magnet schemes does not necessarily lead to quantum speedup dynamics in contrast to previous scenarios with controllable non-Markovianity.

Action quantum speed limits

Eoin O'Connor et al.

Summary: The study introduces action quantum speed limits (QSLs) as a set of bounds on the minimal time required to connect two states, depending crucially on the path traversal method. The interpretation of QSLs is analyzed critically, indicating that these times provide a hint of optimality with respect to the geodesic path, rather than necessarily representing an achievable minimal time. The study demonstrates consistent bounds between different approaches when the instantaneous speed is optimized along a fixed path.
