Neurocutaneous Melanocytosis and Leptomeningeal Melanoma

Victoria Mitre et al.

Summary: Neurocutaneous melanocytosis (NCM) is a rare disorder characterized by multiple or large congenital nevi and excessive proliferation of melanocytes in the leptomeninges and brain parenchyma. Patients with NCM are at high risk of developing leptomeningeal melanoma, which has a poor prognosis with no known effective treatment options. This study discusses the clinical features, treatment, and outcome of NCM and leptomeningeal melanoma in children, as well as the latest molecular findings and treatment options for this rare condition.

Clinical Follow-Up of Patients with Neurocutaneous Melanosis in a Tertiary Center; Proposed Modification in Diagnostic Criteria

Zohreh Habibi et al.

Summary: Neurocutaneous melanosis (NCM) is a rare congenital syndrome with limited information on clinical follow-up and management. This study reviewed the diagnostic protocol and clinical follow-up experience in a referral children's hospital in Iran for 8 NCM patients. The study proposed modifications in diagnostic criteria and recommendations for follow-up surveillance due to the rarity of the disease.
