Recurrent Low-Grade Gliomas: Does Reoperation Affect Neurocognitive Functioning?

Sam Ng et al.

Summary: The study showed that reoperation with awake monitoring in RLGG patients can lead to early recovery of neurocognitive abilities, with most patients experiencing no permanent neurological deficits postoperatively. However, 6.5% of patients developed new cognitive deficits at 3 months postoperatively. Most patients achieved total/subtotal resections, indicating favorable outcomes for reoperation in RLGG patients.

Summary: This study demonstrates that in select patients with progressive DLGG, a third functional-based surgery can be achieved using awake mapping with low neurological risk and a high rate of total resection.

Patterns of Interaction Between Diffuse Low-Grade Glioma and Pregnancy: An Institutional Case Series

Vasileios K. Kavouridis et al.

Summary: Pregnancy in patients with low-grade glioma presents a unique therapeutic challenge, with one third experiencing clinical deterioration. While there was no significant change in tumor growth rate during pregnancy, close neurological and obstetrical follow-up is recommended for these patients.
