Pyrroloquinoline quinone promotes mitochondrial biogenesis in rotenone-induced Parkinson's disease model via AMPK activation

Qiong Cheng et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that PQQ can alleviate locomotor deficits and dopaminergic neuron loss in a mouse PD model by promoting mitochondrial biogenesis through the activation of the AMPK signaling pathway.

1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D deficiency accelerates male reproductive senescence in aging mice and 1,25(OH)2D3 alleviates oxidative stress via NF-?B/SOD

Jialing He et al.

Summary: This study indicates that the deficiency of 1,25(OH)2D3 accelerates male reproductive senescence in aging mice by increasing oxidative stress, while 1,25(OH)2D3 plays a role in alleviating oxidative stress through the NF-?B/SOD signaling pathway. Therefore, 1,25(OH)2D3 may be an effective agent in maintaining fertility and delaying male reproductive senescence by targeting fundamental aging mechanisms.

Pyrroloquinoline quinone protects against exercise-induced fatigue and oxidative damage via improving mitochondrial function in mice

Lixia Liu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that PQQ can significantly protect against exercise-induced fatigue and oxidative damage by improving antioxidant enzyme activity, inhibiting ROS and MDA production, reducing NF-κB and inflammatory mediators, and preserving mitochondrial function.

Effects of Pyrroloquinoline Quinone on Lipid Metabolism and Anti-Oxidative Capacity in a High-Fat-Diet Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Fatty Liver Disease Chick Model

Kai Qiu et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated the therapeutic effects of Pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ) on Metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD) in a chick model and primary chicken hepatocytes by enhancing lipid metabolism, anti-oxidative capacity, and mitochondrial biogenesis. The results showed that PQQ effectively ameliorated the negative effects of the high-energy low-protein diet on liver functions, and protected against oxidative injury in both the chick model and cell models of steatosis and oxidative stress. PQQ was found to exert protective effects on hepatocytes and liver by improving mitochondrial biogenesis and maintaining redox homeostasis, providing a theoretical basis for PQQ as a potential nutrient for preventing MAFLD.

The mechanism of pyrroloquinoline quinone influencing the fracture healing process of estrogen-deficient mice by inhibiting oxidative stress

Xuan Wu et al.

Summary: The study showed that PQQ can prevent and protect against delayed bone fracture healing induced by OVX by inhibiting oxidative stress, promoting osteoblastic bone formation, and inhibiting osteoclastic bone resorption. This provides insight into the mechanism of PQQ supplementation in promoting fracture healing and supports its potential clinical application in bone fracture treatment.

Myocarditis With COVID-19 mRNA Vaccines

Biykem Bozkurt et al.

Summary: Myocarditis is a rare complication of COVID-19 mRNA vaccines, predominantly affecting young adult and adolescent males, with most patients showing improvement in symptoms. Possible mechanisms include molecular mimicry between viral proteins and self-antigens, dysregulated immune pathways, immune response to mRNA, and dysregulated cytokine expression.

SARS-CoV-2 Coronavirus Spike Protein-Induced Apoptosis, Inflammatory, and Oxidative Stress Responses in THP-1-Like-Macrophages: Potential Role of Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme Inhibitor (Perindopril)

Tlili Barhoumi et al.

Summary: The study found that the S protein of SARS-CoV-2 can induce apoptosis, oxidative stress, and inflammatory responses in macrophages and endothelial cells, which can be mitigated by the ACE inhibitor perindopril. Additionally, the S protein can affect the mitogenic responses and proteomic regulation of PBMCs. These findings suggest that the S protein may activate blood and vascular components circulating in the body, with potential involvement of the local renin-angiotensin system in this process.
