Breaking the Aristotype: Featurization of Polyhedral Distortions in Perovskite Crystals

Kazuki Morita et al.

Summary: Traditional crystallographic representations are unsuitable for efficient machine learning, and we propose the use of irreducible representation descriptors for characterizing polyhedral deformations. Through unsupervised machine learning, we identify four distinct behaviors and discover a material with tunable multiferroic behavior. Furthermore, we apply supervised machine learning to accurately describe thermally activated structural distortions.

Band gap, effective masses, and energy level alignment of 2D and 3D halide perovskites and heterostructures using DFT-1/2

Boubacar Traore et al.

Summary: We revisit the Slater half-occupation technique within the DFT-1/2 method to improve the accuracy of band gaps for 2D and 3D halide perovskites. We propose an electron removal scheme from the halide states to improve the predicted band gaps for 2D compounds. Our results show that DFT-1/2 accurately describes the effective masses of these structures and can compute energy level alignments for this family of compounds.

Postsynthetic Crystalline Transformation in Two-Dimensional Perovskites via Organothiol-Based Chemistry

Zilong Yuan et al.

Summary: This study reports the postsynthetic crystal transformation of two-dimensional metal halide perovskites (2D MHPs) through organothiol-based reactions in solution. The swift and complete crystal interconversion of large organic cations in three types of 2D MHPs under ambient conditions has been confirmed.

0D Perovskites: Unique Properties, Synthesis, and Their Applications

Siqi Sun et al.

Summary: 0D perovskites have drawn considerable attention for their unique properties derived from isolated metal halide octahedra or clusters. This review comprehensively analyzes their crystal and electronic structure, as well as properties like large bandgaps, high exciton binding energy, and broad emission spectra from self-trapped excitons with large Stokes shifts. Additionally, synthetic methods and emerging applications in LEDs, solar cells, and detectors are discussed, providing an outlook for future research.

High-performance large-area quasi-2D perovskite light-emitting diodes

Changjiu Sun et al.

Summary: The performance of perovskite light-emitting diodes tends to decline as the active area increases, with severe phase-segregation identified as the cause. The introduction of L-Norvaline to construct an intermediate phase has successfully suppressed the phase-segregation, resulting in highly-efficient large-area quasi-2D films.

Amplifying Surface Energy Difference toward Anisotropic Growth of All-Inorganic Perovskite Single-Crystal Wires for Highly Sensitive Photodetector

Yuan Chen et al.

Summary: By amplifying the surface energy difference through a chemical potential dependent strategy, CsPbBr3 perovskite monocrystalline wires with high aspect ratio were successfully grown. The anisotropic growth of the wires was achieved by regulating the anti-solvent diffusion kinetic and the mass transfer kinetic control of metal halide salts. The produced PWs exhibit high photodetection responsivity and external quantum efficiency, revealing the crucial role of surface energy in the anisotropic growth of CsPbBr3 PWs.
