PM2.5 facilitates IL-6 production in human osteoarthritis synovial fibroblasts via ASK1 activation

Ju-Fang Liu et al.

Summary: PM2.5 exposure increases IL-6 synthesis in human OASFs through ROS, ASK1, ERK, p38, JNK, and AP-1 signaling pathways, linking PM2.5 with OA progression.

Lung retention and particokinetics of silver and gold nanoparticles in rats following subacute inhalation co-exposure

Jin Kwon Kim et al.

Summary: The results showed that the clearance of silver nanoparticles follows a two-phase model, while the clearance of gold nanoparticles could be described by a one-phase model. In the co-exposure of gold and silver nanoparticles, the clearance of silver nanoparticles was altered by the presence of gold, possibly due to some interaction affecting the dissolution and clearance of silver nanoparticles in vivo.

Long-term exposure to fine particulate matter and osteoporotic fracture: A case-control study in Taiwan

Yung-Cheng Chiu et al.

Summary: This study of 16,175 participants in Taiwan found a significant association between long-term exposure to PM2.5 and osteoporotic fractures, particularly in women. Women were more sensitive to the adverse impact of PM2.5 compared to men, suggesting a sex-based effect modification.
