Chemical Control of Spin-Orbit Coupling and Charge Transfer in Vacancy-Ordered Ruthenium(IV) Halide Perovskites

Pratap Vishnoi et al.

Summary: Vacancy-ordered double perovskites with Ru-IV halides A(2)RuCl(6) and A(2)RuBr(6) exhibit tunable optical properties and spin-orbit coupling behavior by changing the cation and halide present. The systematic trends in SOC constants are attributed to Ru-X covalency and delocalization of metal d-electrons due to variations in the cation and anion. Magnetic moments of the compounds are temperature dependent due to the non-magnetic ground state with J(eff)=0 caused by SOC.

Origin of Luminescence in Sb3+- and Bi3+-Doped Cs2SnCl6 Perovskites: Excited State Relaxation and Spin-Orbit Coupling

Habibul Arfin et al.

Summary: Sb3+ and Bi3+ doped Cs2SnCl6 zero-dimensional perovskites are stable and nontoxic phosphors for LEDs. The luminescence originates from the spin-orbit coupling of the s-electrons of the dopants and the ns(1)np(1) excited state. The different number of emission peaks in Sb3+ and Bi3+ doping is due to the interplay between Jahn-Teller distortion and spin-orbit coupling.

Efficient White Photoluminescence from Self-Trapped Excitons in Sb3+/Bi3+-Codoped Cs2NaInCl6 Double Perovskites with Tunable Dual-Emission

Bo Zhou et al.

Summary: By doping Sb3+ and Bi3+ ions into Cs2NaInCl6 single crystals, blue and yellow emissions were achieved, leading to white light emission with a quantum yield of 77%. This dual emission is attributed to self-trapped excitons (STEs) related to different [SbCl6]3- octahedra, with the blue emission resulting from limited Jahn-Teller deformation from Sb3+ doping and the yellow STE emission enhanced by Bi3+ induced lattice distortion and sub-band level formation. Tuning between warm and cold white light can be achieved by adjusting the Sb3+/Bi3+ doping ratio.
