Constructing defect-related subband in silver indium sulfide QDs via pH-dependent oriented aggregation for boosting photocatalytic hydrogen evolution

Xiaoyan Huang et al.

Summary: The surface engineering of quantum dots plays a crucial role in tailoring the carrier dynamics and influencing the photocatalytic activities of I-III-VI quantum dots. Through an aqueous synthesis and pH-tuned oriented assembly method, network-like aggregates of GSH-capped Silver Indium Sulfide were prepared, showing enhanced photocatalytic H-2 evolution rates. The study provides insights for designing efficient non-cadmium/non-novel metal I-III-VI photocatalysts for boosting photocatalytic H-2 evolution.

Summary: Ternary I-III-VI2 nanocrystals, such as AgInS2, exhibit similar valence band structures to CuInS2, with two sublevels of different parity, and show increased emission efficiency at cryogenic temperatures and with reducing electrochemical potentials.
