Induction of IL-10-producing type 2 innate lymphoid cells by allergen immunotherapy is associated with clinical response

Korneliusz Golebski et al.

Summary: IL-10(+) ILC2s play a crucial role in modulating grass-pollen allergy, attenuating Th responses, and maintaining epithelial cell integrity. Patients with grass-pollen allergy have lower levels of IL-10(+) KLRG1(+) ILC2s, but this ability to produce IL-10 is restored after immunotherapy treatment. The mechanisms underlying this involve modifications in retinol metabolic pathway, cytokine-cytokine receptor interaction, and JAK-STAT signaling pathways in the ILCs.

Intestinal epithelial tuft cell induction is negated by a murine helminth and its secreted products

Claire Drurey et al.

Summary: Helminth parasites can manipulate the immune system by modulating intestinal epithelial cells; experiments have shown that excretory/secretory products from parasites can inhibit the effects of IL-4/13, suppress tuft and goblet cell expansion, and induce fetal epithelial growth.

Cytokine-based Cancer Immunotherapy: Challenges and Opportunities for IL-10

Kathrine S. Rallis et al.

Summary: Cancer immunotherapy is a rapidly evolving research field, with cytokines considered as a potential therapy but only IFN-alpha and IL-2 approved by the FDA. Challenges with cytokine-based cancer therapies include high toxicity and low efficacy, but advancements in molecular engineering offer potential for optimization in the future.

High Th2 cytokine levels and upper airway inflammation in human inherited T-bet deficiency

Rui Yang et al.

Summary: This study presents a case of a child with MSMD, in which T-bet deficiency impairs IFN-gamma production by innate and innate-like adaptive cells, affecting the production of Th2 cytokines, particularly IL-5 and IL-13, leading to blood eosinophilia and UAI.
