A Study of the Stochastic Photometric Variability in the Winds of Galactic Wolf-Rayet Stars

Guillaume Lenoir-Craig et al.

Summary: By analyzing lightcurves, we found correlations between the short-term stochastic variability in Wolf-Rayet stars and various stellar characteristics. We observed that the amplitude of variability is strongly correlated with certain stellar properties. Additionally, the variability parameters show differences based on the number of observations.

Massive heartbeat stars from TESS: I. TESS sectors 1-16

P. A. Kolaczek-Szymanski et al.

Summary: This study identified 20 massive heartbeat systems, with 7 exhibiting TEOs, using TESS data from the first 16 sectors and a sample of over 300 eccentric spectroscopic binaries. The results open up new possibilities for probing the interiors of massive stars and studying the interaction between pulsation and binarity in these systems.

Red noise and pulsations in evolved massive stars

Yael Naze et al.

Summary: This study analyzed high-cadence space photometry data of a sample of evolved massive stars taken by the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS), including 26 Wolf-Rayet stars and eight luminous blue variables. Red noise was detected in all cases, and coherent variability was found in 20% of the WR sample, with most detections happening at moderately high frequency. This work doubles the number of WRs known to exhibit high-frequency signals.

X-ray emission from BH plus O star binaries expected to descend from the observed galactic WR plus O binaries

K. Sen et al.

Summary: This study reevaluates the formation of BH+O binaries with a focus on factors influencing the formation of accretion disks, such as wind velocity, specific angular momentum, accretion efficiency, and BH spin. It is found that a high spin of the BH can enhance the X-ray active phase and brightness. Additionally, considering typical wind velocities of O stars may affect predictions of X-ray brightness and duration for BH+O binaries.
