Circulating endocannabinoids and prospective risk for depression in trauma-injury survivors

Jacklynn M. Fitzgerald et al.

Summary: After trauma, higher serum concentrations of 2-AG were found to predict greater depression severity at six months, while the concentrations of AEA and eCBs at six months did not significantly predict depression. Carriers of a minor allele in the CNR1 gene also experienced greater depression at six months, suggesting that the eCB signaling system contributes to long-term depression risk following trauma.
