Competitive adsorption of methanol co-solvent and dioctyl phthalate on functionalized graphene sheet: Integrated investigation by molecular dynamics simulations and quantum chemical calculations

Peng Yi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the competitive adsorption of dioctyl phthalate (DOP) on functionalized graphene sheet in a water-methanol co-solvent system using molecular dynamics simulations and quantum chemical calculations. The findings showed that functional groups in the graphene defects had a strong adsorption affinity for methanol, weakening DOP adsorption. The -COOH functional group had the strongest binding affinity for methanol and predominantly controlled the interaction between graphene and methanol.

Reverse flotation of non-coking coal fines using non-ionic surfactant triton X-100 as depressant

Kanghao Zheng et al.

Summary: The study found that high concentration of TX-100 modifies the bubble surface, making it difficult for the bubble to adhere to coal particles, thus reducing the adhesion probability between coal particles and bubbles.

Elaboration and properties of a new SDS/CTAB@Montmorillonite organoclay composite as a superb adsorbent for the removal of malachite green from aqueous solutions

Redouane Haounati et al.

Summary: The SDS/CTAB@Mt composite, prepared through the synergistic effect of CTAB and SDS, showed a highly negatively charged surface and good adsorption properties for malachite green. The adsorption process followed the Langmuir model and pseudo-second-order kinetics, with a maximum adsorbed amount of 1021.45 mg/g. Thermodynamic parameters indicated that the adsorption of malachite green onto the composite was spontaneous, exothermic, and led to a decrease in randomness of adsorbed molecules.

Synergistic collection mechanism of D-phenylalanine and sodium oleate in flotation of diaspore from kaolinite

Huaxia Li et al.

Summary: D-phenylalanine was introduced to improve the collectability and selectivity of sodium oleate for diaspore in mineral flotation. Experimental results showed that D-phenylalanine exhibited superior synergism with sodium oleate, leading to an increased flotation recovery of diaspore.

The adsorption mechanism of synergic reagents and its effect on apatite flotation in oleamide-sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate (SDBS) system

Zhan Ding et al.

Summary: The use of synergistic reagents significantly improves the flotation efficiency of phosphate ore. Experimental results showed that adjusting the dosage and molar ratio of oleamide and SDBS in the mixed collector system can enhance the recovery rate of apatite. The presence of SDBS was found to strengthen the adsorption of oleamide, leading to changes in the chemical state of the apatite surface and improving the flotation effect.
