Differences in Etheramines Froth Properties and the Effects on Iron Ore Flotation. Part I: Two-Phase Systems

Vanderson Eney de Matos et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of different types of Etheramines on flotation selectivity, focusing on their frothing properties. It found that Etherdiamine showed greater activity at the liquid-air interface, producing drier, voluminous, and more stable foams with longer lifetime, while Ethermonoamine exhibited faster foamability and greater water recovery in foam above critical coalescence concentration values.

Flotation behavior and mechanism of styrene phosphonic acid as collector on the flotation separation of fluorite from calcite

Jie Liu et al.

Summary: In this research, SPA was used as a collector to separate fluorite from calcite. The adsorption mechanism of SPA on the fluorite surface was explored, revealing that chemical interactions played a key role in the adsorption process, with calcium atoms on the fluorite surface being the main active sites. The main species of SPA on the fluorite surface at pH 6 were identified as monovalent and divalent ions. The most likely adsorption model involved coordination between single oxygen and single calcium.

Studies on the surface oxidation and its role in the flotation of mixed Cu-Ni sulfide ore

Dezhi Liu et al.

Summary: The experiment results revealed that surface oxidation has a stronger depression effect on Cu-Ni sulfide flotation compared to the flotation of single pyrite and chalcopyrite mineral samples. This is mainly attributed to the generation of hydrophilic products sulfate and Fe/Ni oxide/hydroxide on the oxidized Cu-Ni sulfide surface, leading to a stronger depression effect.

New perspectives in iron ore flotation: Use of collector reagents without depressants in reverse cationic flotation of quartz

Klaydison Silva et al.

Summary: A new amidoamine collector N-[3-(Dimethylamino)propyl]dodecanamide has been proposed for the reverse flotation of iron ore, showing significant selectivity towards quartz while having less impact on hematite and kaolinite. Surface hindrance effect caused by the structure of the collector on the hematite surface is the most suitable hypothesis for explaining the high selectivity in the iron ore reverse flotation process.

Iron Ore Slimes Flotation Tests Using Column and Amidoamine Collector without Depressant

Lev O. Filippov et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the concentration of iron ore slimes using a novel collector and a flotation column, achieving a concentrate with high iron content and metallurgical recovery. The variability of slime characteristics affects the silica recovery, but the applicability of the amidoamine collector has been demonstrated. Further research is needed to optimize the concentration process and stability of silica recovery.

The effects of partially replacing amine collectors by a commercial frother in a reverse cationic hematite flotation

K. Fabrice Kapiamba et al.

Summary: Using a frother as a partial replacement for amine collectors in reverse cationic flotation of hematite can improve flotation performance in terms of grade and recovery. However, higher frother dosages may lead to entrainment of quartz, resulting in higher reagent costs. It would be beneficial to further investigate these findings with alternative reagents and different mineralogical properties in the future.
