Screening of Bacillus velezensis E2 and the Inhibitory Effect of Its Antifungal Substances on Aspergillus flavus

Shengjie Li et al.

Summary: This study isolated an antagonist strain of Bacillus velezensis with obvious antifungal activity against A. flavus from the surface of healthy rice. The lipopeptides (LPs) produced by this strain could inhibit spore germination and hyphal growth of A. flavus, and down-regulated key genes involved in biosynthesis pathways.

Pollen diversity and its implications to the systematics of mimosaceous species byLMandSEM

Shahzeb Ullah Khan et al.

Summary: In this study, pollen morphology of 14 mimosaceous species belonging to five genera was analyzed using light microscopy (LM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Qualitative and quantitative characters were used to determine palynological features. The study identified various shapes of pollen grains and different exine sculpturing patterns, providing important morpho-palynological characters for identification and validation of related taxa within Mimosaceae family.

Seed morphology: An addition to the taxonomy of Astragaleae and Trifolieae (Leguminosae: Papilionoidae) from Pakistan

Neelam Rashid et al.

Summary: Seed morphology of 12 species from tribes Astragaleae and Trifolieae was studied using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to evaluate taxonomic relevance and identify diagnostic features. Species-specific characteristics were determined based on seed shape, size, and ornamentation, with distinct cell patterns observed. The study suggests that SEM can be valuable for species identification within these tribes.

Application of spore morphology to solve identification problems in certain species of family Dryopteridaceae from Malakand Division, Pakistan

Syed N. Shah et al.

Summary: In this study, the morphology of spores of 12 native taxa of Dryopteridaceae from Malakand division, Pakistan was investigated, providing insights into the taxonomic significance of spore morphological features for species identification. Results showed that variation in spore morphological traits, particularly ornamentation and perispore characteristics, have diagnostic value at the species level, which can aid in identifying Dryopteridaceae spores in palynological and taxonomic studies.

Palyno-morphological characterization of selected allergenic taxa of family Poaceae from Islamabad-Pakistan using microscopic techniques

Izhar Ullah et al.

Summary: Statistics worldwide show an increased risk of allergies related to plants, affecting 5-30% of the population in industrialized countries. This study in Islamabad, Pakistan focused on identifying allergenic grass species using microscopic techniques and analyzing their pollen morphology, finding variations in pollen features and exine ornamentation. The research aims to develop an allergenic pollen atlas by arranging pollen types and discussing various pollen characteristics.
