Capillary Action-Inspired Nanoengineering of Spheres-on-Sphere Microspheres with Hollow Core and Hierarchical Shell

Juan Wang et al.

Summary: A one pot nanoengineering strategy inspired by the automatic transport behavior of water in plants was successfully developed to fabricate spheres-on-sphere (SOS) microspheres with hollow cavities and hierarchical structure. By removing the polystyrene (PS) phase in SOS particles, particles with multiscale hollow structure (SOS-MH) were obtained, reducing the thermal conductivity of composite fibrous membranes and improving moisture resistance.

Removal mechanism of surface cleaning on TA15 titanium alloy using nanosecond pulsed laser

Zhichao Li et al.

Summary: Nanosecond laser cleaning offers an efficient and environmentally friendly method for removing oxide films from titanium alloys. The optimal cleaning parameters were found to be a laser fluence of 3.98 J/cm(2) and a laser head moving speed of 5 mm/s, resulting in improved surface properties. The main mechanism of laser cleaning was identified as laser ablation, with the formation of titanium alloy oxides observed at higher laser energy fluences.
