Glyphosate detection from commercial formulations: comparison of screening analytic methods based on enzymatic inhibition

Lucia M. E. Ibarra Bouzada et al.

Summary: Two environmentally friendly methods based on enzymatic inhibition were compared for rapid determination of glyphosate in commercial formulations, utilizing spectrophotometry (UV/Vis-SPD) and spectrofluorimetry (FLD). FLD showed greater sensitivity, simplicity, and speed compared to UV/Vis-SPD, with lower limits of detection of 4 μg/L. These methods can be applied to detect glyphosate in environmental samples from commercial formulations.

Effects of commercial formulations of glyphosate on marine crustaceans and implications for risk assessment under temperature changes

Isabella Parlapiano et al.

Summary: Glyphosate-based herbicides are commonly used worldwide, but this study highlights that they can have toxic effects on marine organisms, especially under high temperatures. Among the three brands tested, Efesto (R) was found to be the most toxic, affecting the amphipod Corophium insidiosum the most. Management strategies should be put in place to minimize negative impacts on marine organisms.

Sensitive SERS assay for glyphosate based on the prevention of l-cysteine inhibition of a Au-Pt nanozyme

Jun Ma et al.

Summary: An indirect SERS sensing assay was developed for the determination of glyphosate in tap water, based on the combination of divalent copper ions with l-cysteine to relieve the inhibitory effect on a Au-Pt nanozyme. A novel nano-chain-like Au-Ag composite was successfully fabricated to detect SERS signals of oxTMB with good repeatability. The assay showed a good linear response over a wide concentration range and excellent anti-interference ability against cations and structural analogues.
