Remarkable nonlinear optical response of Mn@C20 (M = Na & K and n=1-6); a DFT outcome

Naveen Kosar et al.

Summary: The electronic, optical, and nonlinear optical properties of Na and K doped C20 fullerene were investigated using density functional theory (DFT) methods. The interaction of single and multi-doped Na and K with the C20 surface was found to have varying thermodynamic properties. The reduction in the HOMO-LUMO energy gaps was more pronounced in multi-doped complexes, and the doping of multiple metals significantly increased the first hyperpolarizability of the complexes.

Misbah Asif et al.

Summary: The C4N's sensing affinity and adsorption properties towards carbamate insecticides were investigated using density functional theory calculations. The results showed that the insecticides are physically adsorbed via noncovalent interactions, leading to changes in the electronic structure of C4N. This suggests that C4N has potential as a sensitive sensor for toxic pesticides.

Fluorene based fluorescent and colorimetric sensors for ultrasensitive detection of nitroaromatics in aqueous medium

Muhammad Tahir Waseem et al.

Summary: New butterfly-shaped pi-extended sensors 4 and 5 were synthesized and employed for the sensitive detection of picric acid. These sensors showed ultra-sensitive fluorescence quenching response to picric acid, with a high quenching efficiency and a low limit of detection. Selective interaction of the sensors with picric acid was evaluated through various experiments, and the sensors were successfully applied for detection in real water samples. Furthermore, sensors' colorimetric recognition and coated test strips allowed for immediate naked eye detection of picric acid.
