A turn-off-on near-infrared photoluminescence sensor for sequential detection of Fe3+ and ascorbic acid based on glutathione-capped gold nanoclusters

Wenjuan Dong et al.

Summary: Many reports indicate that near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent probes are promising for enhancing fluorescence sensing and imaging sensitivity. In this study, gold nanoclusters with excellent NIR photoluminescence (PL) were synthesized, and a turn-off-on NIR PL sensing strategy for sequential detection of Fe3+ and AA was successfully constructed. The NIR PL sensor showed great sensing performance and was used for the determination of Fe3+ and AA in real samples with satisfactory results.

Synthesis of a facile fluorescent 8-hydroxyquinoline-pillar[5]arene chemosensor based host-guest chemistry for phoxim

Ming Cheng et al.

Summary: A novel 8-hydroxyquinoline-pillar[5]arene was synthesized and applied in a fluorometric chemosensor to detect phoxim with great selectivity and sensitivity. The formation of an inclusion complex between the host and guest molecules contributed to the high performance of this chemosensor, which was not affected by the presence of other common pesticides. This work provides a reliable and rapid method for detecting pesticide residue.

Gold nanoclusters reversible switches based on aluminum ions-triggered for detection of pyrophosphate and acid phosphatase activity

Haitham Saad Al-mashriqi et al.

Summary: Gold nanoclusters were synthesized using glutathione as a reducing agent and stabilizer. Aluminum ions triggered the aggregation of AuNCs, leading to significant fluorescence, which can be disaggregated with the addition of pyrophosphate. A novel fluorescence turn-on-off-on detection method for PPi and ACP activity was established, with excellent sensing efficiency in real samples.
