Correction of Human Forehead Temperature Variations Measured by Non-Contact Infrared Thermometer

Adrian Shajkofci

Summary: Fever is a common medical symptom, and non-contact infrared thermometers are used for fast fever screening by measuring forehead temperature. However, forehead temperature measurements are easily influenced by the environment, and we propose a method to eliminate external perturbations and improve temperature accuracy.

Proper use of noncontact infrared thermometry for temperature screening during COVID-19

Amber S. Hussain et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the efficacy of noncontact infrared thermometry for temperature screening in healthcare facilities during the COVID-19 outbreak. Results showed that NCIT at 1 ft had higher agreement with the reference standard, and setting the screening threshold at 93.5 degrees F achieved 70.9% diagnostic accuracy.
