Joint exposure to various ambient air pollutants and incident heart failure:a prospective analysis in UK Biobank

Mengying Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that long-term exposure to various ambient air pollutants is associated with an increased risk of incident heart failure, and the air pollution score is positively correlated with the risk of developing heart failure in a dose-response manner, which is also influenced by genetic susceptibility.

Genetic Risk for Overall Cancer and the Benefit of Adherence to a Healthy Lifestyle

Meng Zhu et al.

Summary: Cancer site-specific polygenic risk scores can effectively identify individuals at high risk of individual cancers. By using an incidence-weighted overall cancer polygenic risk score, individuals at high genetic risk of overall cancer can be identified and the risk can be attenuated by adopting a healthy lifestyle.

Long-term night shift work is associated with the risk of atrial fibrillation and coronary heart disease

Ningjian Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that both current and lifetime night shift work were associated with an increased risk of atrial fibrillation (AF), regardless of genetic vulnerability. Participants with over 10 years of night shift work experience and an average frequency of 3-8 night shifts per month had a higher AF risk compared to shift workers who never worked nights.

Joint exposure to various ambient air pollutants and incident heart failure: a prospective analysis in UK Biobank

Mengying Wang et al.

Summary: This study found that long-term joint exposure to various air pollutants, including PM2.5, PM10, PM2.5-10, NO2, and NOx, is associated with an elevated risk of incident HF in an additive manner. It is important to comprehensively assess various air pollutants in relation to HF risk.
