Suppression of non-radiative recombination to improve performance of colloidal quantum-dot LEDs with a Cs2CO3 solution treatment

Huu Tuan Nguyen et al.

Summary: In this study, a five-fold increase in luminance of green-light-emitting CdSe@ZnS quantum-dot LEDs treated with cesium carbonate (Cs2CO3) was reported. Modeling results indicated that Cs2CO3 treatment resulted in a shift in Fermi level, reduction of barrier heights, and passivation of mid-gap defect states. Despite the significant difference in luminance, light-extraction efficiency remained consistent at 9% regardless of Cs2CO3 treatment, attributed to the similar optical structures.

Regulating Thiol Ligands of p-Type Colloidal Quantum Dots for Efficient Infrared Solar Cells

Jingxuan Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigates a series of thiol ligands for p-type CQDs, demonstrating that by carefully controlling the interaction between CQDs and thiol ligands during the preparation of p-type CQD solid films, the n-type CQD solid films can be effectively protected from destruction induced by thiol ligands. The p-type CQD solid film passivated with 4-aminobenzenethiol (ABT) shows better optoelectronic properties than conventional EDT-based films, leading to improved photovoltaic performance in CQDSCs.

Ligand Exchange at a Covalent Surface Enables Balanced Stoichiometry in III-V Colloidal Quantum Dots

Min-Jae Choi et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates stoichiometric reconstruction in InAs CQDs by ligand exchange, replacing indium-carboxylate ligands with anionic ligands like thiols to produce balanced-stoichiometry CQDs inks. This approach enables the use of InAs CQD solids as the active layer in photodiode detectors with high external quantum efficiency and fast photoresponse time, outperforming reference PbS CQD devices by a factor of 4.
