Ultra-high tensile strength via precipitates and enhanced martensite transformation in a FeNiAlC alloy

Yan Ma et al.

Summary: Through aging and quenching treatment, the study investigated the strengthening effect and deformation mechanisms of a dual-phase alloy, revealing that the aged samples have higher yield strength and strain hardening ability compared to the hot-rolled samples, mainly due to the influence of B2 precipitates.

Tailoring the metastable reversed austenite from metastable Mn-rich carbides

Yuantao Xu et al.

Summary: In this study, a two-steps tempering-partitioning process was designed for a medium-manganese steel, resulting in a microstructure with excellent dynamic mechanical properties by redistributing carbon and manganese. The metastable austenite formed in the process serves as a strengthening second phase in addition to the TRIP effect, leading to ultrahigh strength steels with outstanding mechanical properties.

Evolution of microstructure and deformation behavior in Al-Ni added medium-Mn steel processed through intercritical/cold rolling and annealing

Biraj Kumar Sahoo et al.

Summary: The effect of intercritical annealing on medium-Mn steel processed through different routes showed distinct variations in grain structure, mechanical properties, and deformation behavior after annealing. Higher fraction of retained austenite was found in CR-annealed samples compared to IR-annealed samples due to extensive recrystallization. IR-annealed samples exhibited higher yield strength and ultimate tensile strength, while CR sample annealed at 800 degrees C showed a high elongation of 57% with a strength-ductility combination of 47.7 GPa%.
