Mechanisms for refining precipitation and improving strengthening of annealed Cu-2Ag alloy via La modification

Peng-Hong Hu et al.

Summary: A new Cu-2Ag-0.14La alloy with enhanced mechanical properties and electrical conductivity was developed by introducing Ag-rich primary phases and nanoscale Ag precipitates. The annealed Cu-2Ag-0.14La alloy showed increased yielding and ultimate tensile strengths, with grain sizes increasing but size ratio varying significantly with temperature. The refined grain sizes in Cu-2Ag-0.14La alloy were related to nano-scale precipitates, hindering subgrain boundary formation and providing stronger pinning effect on boundary migration during annealing.

High strength, high electrical conductivity and thermally stable bulk Cu/Ag nanolayered composites prepared by cross accumulative roll bonding

Chaoping You et al.

Summary: Cu/Ag nanolayered composites fabricated via CARB exhibit excellent mechanical properties and thermal stability at a layer thickness of 20 nm, with high strength, electrical conductivity, and hardness achieved. However, degradation occurs when annealing temperature exceeds 500 degrees C, with onset of thermal instability attributed to triple junction motion and Rayleigh instability mechanisms.

Regulating the oxidation resistance of Cu-5Ag alloy by heat treatment

Xiaojuan Gong et al.

Summary: The study shows that aging treatment can enhance the oxidation resistance of Cu-5 wt%Ag alloy by forming a continuous Ag network along grain boundaries. This network acts as a barrier against inward diffusion of oxygen and outward diffusion of Cu during oxidation.
