Effects of Nb on deformation-induced transformation and mechanical properties of HfNbxTa0.2TiZr high entropy alloys

Xiaocan Wen et al.

Summary: The addition of Nb enhances the TRIP effect and facilitates twinning in the product HCP phase in the late stage of deformation in HfNbxTa0.2TiZr HEAs. As a result, the HfNb0.2Ta0.2TiZr HEA exhibits pronounced work hardening behavior and a large uniform ductility of up to 26%, surpassing most previously reported refractory BCC HEAs.

Microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of diffusion bonding Al5(TiZrHfNb)95 refractory high entropy alloy to Ti2AlNb alloy

Y. J. Du et al.

Summary: In this study, diffusion bonding of refractory high entropy alloy Al-5(TiZrHfNb)(95) with intermetallic compound Ti2AlNb was conducted under different temperatures, revealing the microstructure evolution and mechanical properties. The presence of Al3Zr5 phase in the joint interface was found to impact the shear strength, with higher bonding temperatures resulting in higher strength but lower Al3Zr5 content. Increasing bonding temperature led to a transition from intergranular brittle to ductile fracture in the joints.
