Construction of TiO2-covalent organic framework Z-Scheme hybrid through coordination bond for photocatalytic CO2 conversion

Lei Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a covalent organic framework (COF) was constructed with CuTAPP and p-benzaldehyde, integrated with TiO2 to form a Z-scheme hybrid system. The framework showed enhanced photocatalytic performance in CO2 conversion, attributed to the photosensitizer effect of the porphyrin block and the establishment of a Z-scheme system for carrier separation.

A Z-scheme AgI/BiOI binary nanophotocatalyst for the Eriochrome Black T photodegradation: A scavenging agents study

Nafiseh Pourshirband et al.

Summary: The increased pollution of the environment, especially in aquatic environments, necessitates the development of novel techniques/catalysts with high efficiency and low cost. In this study, a novel visible-light heterogeneous photocatalyst composed of AgI/BiOI was prepared and utilized for the photodegradation of Eriochrome Black T (EBT). The results showed an increase in the electron-hole production and a decrease in the electron-hole recombination in the coupled system compared to BiOI alone. The cyclic voltammogram peak current of the coupled system changed, indicating an internal redox process between BiOI and AgI. The UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectra analysis revealed the band gap energies of AgI, BiOI, and AgI-BiOI samples. The photocatalytic activity of the coupled system was enhanced, depending on the mole ratio of AgI to BiOI. Scavenging agents such as ascorbic acid significantly decreased the overall process efficiency, highlighting the crucial role of superoxide radicals in the photodegradation process. Based on the potential positions of the conduction band and valence band levels, the Z-scheme mechanism was found to be the most suitable model for describing the photodegradation mechanism.

Microstructural modification of hollow TiO2 nanospheres and their photocatalytic performance

Junlei Wang et al.

Summary: The microstructure of photocatalysts, such as hollow TiO2 spheres synthesized using RF polymer resin, plays a vital role in enhancing photocatalytic performance. Adjusting the concentration of ammonia during synthesis affects the micromorphology and photocatalytic properties of the TiO2 spheres. The high conductivity and surface area of the hollow TiO2 spheres contribute to their efficient photocatalytic performance in phenol decomposition.

Efficient hydrogen production in a spotlight reactor with plate photocatalyst of TiO2/NiO heterojunction supported on nickel foam

Zilong Zeng et al.

Summary: A novel photocatalytic hydrogen production reactor with plate catalysts showed a 2.66 times higher hydrogen production rate compared to traditional suspended systems under equivalent irradiation intensity. Factors such as high energy flux intensity, increased hydrophilicity, and low viscosity were found to be essential for the reactor's high efficiency. These considerations have not been widely explored in solar photocatalytic reactor design.
