Synergistic effect of nitrogen vacancy on ultrathin graphitic carbon nitride porous nanosheets for highly efficient photocatalytic H2 evolution

Yazhou Zhang et al.

Summary: This study successfully synthesized ultrathin and porous nanosheets through a thermal exfoliation method, and introduced N vacancies to enhance photocatalytic performance. The results showed that the ultrathin nanosheets exhibited superior visible-light-driven H2 evolution activity by strengthening the separation of photo-generated carriers through the in-plane electronic structure and providing abundant reaction sites.

Facile synthesis of doped CxNy QDs as photoluminescent matrix for direct detection of hydroquinone

Aniruddha Jaiswal et al.

Summary: This study reported a facile hydrothermal synthesis of highly photoluminescent doped carbon nitride quantum dots for direct detection of hydroquinone. The quantum dots showed strong dispersivity in water with high fluorescence stability, making them suitable for sensing hydroquinone. The addition of hydroquinone resulted in quenching of the photoluminescence of the quantum dots, demonstrating their potential as a sensor for this pollutant.

Disordered nitrogen-defect-rich porous carbon nitride photocatalyst for highly efficient H2 evolution under visible-light irradiation

Cheng Cheng et al.

Summary: The optimal choice for preparing high-performance GCN appears to be biuret, as BCN exhibited a long-range atomic disordered structure with numerous nitrogen defects embedded and extended visible-light absorption, improved charge carrier separation, and rich available reactive sites. This resulted in ultrahigh photocatalytic H-2 production and excellent O-2 production performance, with a high AQY of 45.5% at 420 nm, making it one of the top performers among GCN-based photocatalysts.

Efficient degradation of metronidazole antibiotic by TiO2/Ag3PO4/g-C3N4 ternary composite photocatalyst in a continuous flow-loop photoreactor

Hamid Abbasi-Asl et al.

Summary: This study reported a composite material consisting of g-C3N4 layers and TiO2/Ag3PO4 nanoparticles, with a photocatalyst prepared through specific methods achieving a degradation efficiency of 97.18% for MNZ in a continuous flow-loop photoreactor. The experiments indicated that the prepared samples showed enhanced visible-light-driven performance for MNZ degradation compared to other samples, thanks to the formation of a Z-scheme system, surface plasmon resonance effect, and high charge separation.

NiCo2O4 nanosheets as a novel oxygen-evolution-reaction cocatalyst in situ bonded on the g-C3N4 photocatalyst for excellent overall water splitting

Cheng Cheng et al.

Summary: This study successfully fabricated a 2D/2D coupled NiCo2O4/g-C3N4 nanostructure, which efficiently promoted the separation and migration of photo-generated charge carriers for g-C3N4 and reduced the energy barriers of the oxygen evolution reaction. By introducing Pt as a hydrogen-evolution-reaction cocatalyst, photocatalytic overall water splitting was achieved with high H-2 AQY.
