Fabrication of a novel MoO3/Zn-Al LDHs composite photocatalyst for efficient degradation of tetracycline under visible light irradiation

Jun Wang et al.

Summary: A novel MoO3/Zn-Al LDHs composite photocatalyst was successfully prepared and characterized. The composite showed higher photocatalytic removal efficiency for tetracycline compared to pure Zn-Al LDHs and MoO3. The introduction of MoO3 facilitates the separation of electron-hole pairs, indicating great potential for antibiotic wastewater treatment.

Optimal rare-earth (La, Y and Sm) doping conditions and enhanced mechanism for photocatalytic application of ceria nanorods

Xuewen Xia et al.

Summary: The method of morphological tuning or additional cation doping is a potential and simple way to enhance the photocatalytic properties of ceria. In this study, La, Y, and Sm were doped into CeO2 NRs in various concentrations, with 10% doping showing the narrowest band gaps and higher photocatalytic performance. The enhanced photocatalytic activity of CeO2 was mainly attributed to the promotion of oxygen vacancy generation and impeding the recombination of photogenerated carriers by doped RE ions.

Mechanical activation of zero-valent iron (ZVI) in the presence of CaCO3: Improved reactivity of ZVI for enhancing As(III) removal from water

Tingting Zhang et al.

Summary: Grinding microscale iron powder with calcium carbonate can enhance the removal efficiency of As(III) from water. The modified ZVI/CaCO3 shows excellent removal performance and good regeneration property. The presence of CaCO3 facilitates the corrosion of ZVI and the formation of Fe(II) and H2O2 to significantly enhance As(III) removal.

Studies on the adsorption of dyes, Methylene blue, Safranin T, and Malachite green onto Polystyrene foam

Wei Li et al.

Summary: Researchers have developed a recyclable acylating waste expanded polystyrene adsorbent using waste expanded polystyrene foam and 1,2,4-benzenetricarboxylic anhydride, which showed high performance in dye adsorption and stability in harsh environments. The adsorbent demonstrated efficient adsorption for methylene blue, safranine T, and malachite green and could be reused multiple times without significant loss of efficiency. This sustainable approach provides a cost-effective solution for waste management and wastewater treatment.

Sustainable detection and capturing of cerium(III) using ligand embedded solid-state conjugate adsorbent

Khadiza Tul Kubra et al.

Summary: The study systematically investigated the detection, adsorption, and recovery of cerium (Ce(III)) on a ligand-based optical conjugate adsorbent with high sensitivity and selectivity. Optimal experimental conditions were determined, and the adsorbent exhibited a high adsorption capacity for Ce(III) ions and maintained selectivity even after regeneration. The proposed conjugate adsorbent offers a cost-effective solution for effectively detecting, capturing, and recovering Ce(III) ions from wastewater samples.
