Diet of snow crab in the Barents Sea and macrozoobenthic communities in its area of distribution

Denis Zakharov et al.

Summary: This article investigates the diet and feeding intensity of snow crab in the Barents Sea, revealing that snow crab has a diverse diet consisting of almost all types of benthic invertebrates. Differences were found between the diets of females and males, as well as between juveniles and adults. The study also estimated that snow crab consumes at least 30000 tonnes of benthos annually in the investigated area.
