Integrating Remote Sensing and Numerical Modeling to Quantify the Water Balance of Climate-Induced Intermittent Wetlands

Summary: Wetlands are facing threats to ecosystem biodiversity and function due to climate variability. A new integrated approach using remote sensing and water balance modeling has been developed to investigate historical water storage variations in a Climate-induced Intermittent Wetlands system. This approach has been validated against field water level data and shown to be superior to existing algorithms in estimating water levels in shallow wetlands. The study demonstrates the importance of this integrated approach for hydroclimatic analysis of intermittent wetlands.
