Enabling Large-Scale Condensed-Phase Hybrid Density Functional Theory-Based Ab Initio Molecular Dynamics II: Extensions to the Isobaric-Isoenthalpic and Isobaric-Isothermal Ensembles

Hsin-Yu Ko et al.

Summary: In this study, the authors extended the capabilities of a hybrid DFT-based AIMD simulation method for large-scale condensed-phase systems. The theoretical and algorithmic enhancements allowed for the evaluation of systems such as liquid water, benzene molecular crystal polymorph, and semiconductor crystalline silicon, with the EXX contributions converging with appropriate parameters. The extended exx module demonstrated strong computational performance, providing the necessary EXX-related quantities for NpT simulations of liquid water in a very short timeframe.

Strategies for the Development of Conjugated Polymer Molecular Dynamics Force Fields Validated with Neutron and X-ray Scattering

Caitlyn M. Wolf et al.

Summary: Conjugated polymers (CPs) have enabled a variety of lightweight, low-cost, and flexible organic electronic devices, but a thorough understanding of the relationship between molecular structure, dynamics, and electronic performance is crucial. Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations provide theoretical insights into these relationships, but accurate parameterization of force fields (FFs) for CPs and experimental validation methods such as neutron and X-ray scattering are essential for improving device efficiencies and developing new technologies. The use of machine learning and oligomers as proxies for longer polymer chains show promise in high-throughput parametrization of accurate CP FFs.
