Photobiomodulation Therapy on Myocardial Infarction in Rats: Transcriptional and Posttranscriptional Implications to Cardiac Remodeling

Regiane dos Santos Feliciano et al.

Summary: The study found that myocardial infarction induced transcriptional changes in several signaling pathways related to detrimental cardiac activity, but photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) was able to reverse most of these changes and reduce the expression of factors related to inflammation and extracellular matrix composition. Global microRNA (miRNA) expression analysis revealed that PBMT lowered the expression of miRNAs associated with deleterious effects in cardiac remodeling after MI.
