Dexamethasone enhances CD163 expression in porcine IPKM immortalized macrophages

Takato Takenouchi et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates that the glucocorticoid dexamethasone (DEX) can significantly enhance the expression of the CD163 receptor in IPKM cells, and this process involves the p38 MAPK signaling pathway. However, the enhanced CD163 expression induced by DEX alone is not sufficient to facilitate the infection of IPKM by PRRSV.

Susceptibility of immortalized porcine kidney macrophages to porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus-2 infection

Takeya Morozumi et al.

Summary: Researchers demonstrated the advantages of porcine immortalized kidney-derived macrophages (IPKMs) for PRRSV research, showing that these cells express PRRSV receptors, thereby increasing virus isolation efficiency and continuous production of progeny viruses throughout sequential passages.
