A comparative study on dielectric and mechanical properties of porous β-Si3N4 ceramics by controlling porosity and microstructure

Haoqian Zhang et al.

Summary: The study shows that the designed microstructures have a significant impact on the mechanical properties of porous Si3N4 ceramics, but a less obvious effect on the dielectric properties. The dielectric constant can be reliably designed based on the porosity, and the mechanical properties can be optimized through microstructure.

Seed assisted in-situ synthesis of porous anorthite/mullite whisker ceramics by foam-freeze casting

Linghao Wu et al.

Summary: Porous anorthite/mullite whisker ceramics with high strength and low thermal conductivity were successfully prepared through a combination of seed-assisted in situ synthesis and foam-freeze casting techniques. The materials exhibited a high apparent porosity, low bulk density, high compressive strength, and low thermal conductivity, making them suitable for thermal insulating applications.

In situ growth of single crystal Si3N4 nanowire foam with good wave-transparency and heat insulation performance

Chuchu Guo et al.

Summary: This study focused on the preparation and characteristics of Si3N4 single crystal nanowire foam using a carbon template and in-situ synthesis method. The nanowires exhibited low density, high foam volume fraction, and good thermal insulation properties. The foam also had an ultralow dielectric constant, good wave transmissivity, and excellent high-temperature stability, making it a transparent material with heat insulation and wave-transparency capabilities.

Electromagnetic wave-transparent porous silicon nitride ceramic prepared by gel-casting combined with in-situ nitridation reaction

Conglin Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, a specific microstructure of porous silicon nitride was achieved through liquid-phase sintering and in-situ nitridation of Si. A novel formulation was developed to produce chemically-stable slurry, and key structural parameters were adjusted to enhance the performance of the ceramics.
