Cold start capability and durability of electrospun catalyst layer for proton exchange membrane fuel cell

Han Liu et al.

Summary: The electrospun catalyst layer (E-spun CL) improves performance and durability under normal temperature operations due to optimized pore structure and reduced mass transport losses. E-spun CL shows a better cold start capability compared to commercial electro-sprayed catalyst layer (E-sprayed CL), possibly due to lower freezing probability of super-cooled water in micro-pores.

An adiabatic cell as a model for stack in PEFC cold start study

Shangshang Wang et al.

Summary: Inadequate cold start capability is a hindrance for fuel cell vehicles in cold regions. An adiabatic model cell is designed to simulate central cells in PEFC stack, with thermal adjustment boards, thermocouples, and heating plates providing adiabatic thermal boundary conditions for reproducible and controlled study of cold start.
