Promoting highly dispersed Co3O4 nanoparticles onto polyethyne unraveling the catalytic mechanism with stable catalytic activity for oxygen evolution reaction: From fundamentals to applications

Abdul Qayoom Mugheri et al.

Summary: The solution to the global energy crisis involves utilizing electrochemical water splitting with conducting polymers and noble metal co-catalysts, resulting in improved hydrogen and oxygen gas production. The morphological and chemical composition analysis of pristine and composite materials played a crucial role in the development of an advanced material Co3O4/polyethyne for efficient oxygen production at a reasonable overpotential. This newly developed catalyst with a high amount of Co3O4 nanoparticles selectively grown on polyethyne showed significant improvements in oxygen production due to the properties of polyethyne as a good electrical conductor and the efficient catalyst Co3O4 with high surface roughness.
