A Nanographene-Based Two-Dimensional Covalent Organic Framework as a Stable and Efficient Photocatalyst

Enquan Jin et al.

Summary: Synthesis of covalent organic frameworks with desirable organic units leads to advanced materials with unique functionalities, with sp(2)-carbon-conjugated COFs providing a platform to build highly stable and crystalline porous polymers. A 2D olefin-linked COF using nanographene, dibenzo[hi,st]ovalene (DBOV), as a building block was prepared, showing ABC-stacked lattices, enhanced stability, and high charge-carrier mobility.

Nonplanar Rhombus and Kagome 2D Covalent Organic Frameworksfrom Distorted Aromatics for Electrical Conduction

Guolong Xing et al.

Summary: Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are a new class of 2D materials with high crystallinity and tunable structures. However, their low electrical conductivity hinders their applications in electronics and optoelectronics. This study successfully designed and synthesized two different 2D COFs with different lattice structures and found that one of them exhibited high charge-carrier mobility.

Atomic-number (Z)-correlated atomic sizes for deciphering electron microscopic molecular images

Junfei Xing et al.

Summary: With the development of atomic resolution transmission electron microscopy (AR-TEM), chemists can visually study the temporal evolution of molecular motions and reactions at the atomic level. However, experimental TEM images often differ from conventional molecular models, making them difficult to interpret. By introducing correlated atomic radii models, researchers can more easily estimate molecular structures from TEM images.

Molecularly Engineered Black Phosphorus Heterostructures with Improved Ambient Stability and Enhanced Charge Carrier Mobility

Huanhuan Shi et al.

Summary: The molecular heterostructures of black phosphorus (BP) and hexaazatriphenylene derivatives (BP/HATs) improve environmental stability and charge transport properties, decreasing surface electron density and enhancing carrier mobility. The strategy not only extends the ambient lifetime of BP sheets but also provides a new avenue for enhancing the physicochemical properties of other air-sensitive 2D semiconductors.

Highly Mobile Large Polarons in Black Phase CsPbI3

Heng Zhang et al.

Summary: This study reports the band-like transport of photogenerated charge carriers within all-inorganic black gamma-phase CsPbI3 thin films, with local mobilities nearly 1 order of magnitude higher than that reported for hybrid organic-inorganic lead halide perovskites. The results reveal that large polaron formation governs charge carrier transport within the material.

Band-like Charge Transport in Phytic Acid-Doped Polyaniline Thin Films

Marco Ballabio et al.

Summary: The research investigates the charge transport properties of phytic acid (PA) doped polyaniline thin films prepared by the surfactant monolayer-assisted interfacial synthesis (SMAIS). The study shows that the charge transport in the samples displays band-like behavior and exhibits state-of-the-art charge carrier mobilities of approximate to 1 cm(2)V(-1)s(-1) in the THz region. Temperature-dependent analysis further supports band-like charge transport, suggesting that impurity scattering primarily limits charge carrier mobility in the films. This work highlights the potential of PA doped polyaniline for organic electronics.

Interfacial Synthesis of Layer-Oriented 2D Conjugated Metal-Organic Framework Films toward Directional Charge Transport

Zhiyong Wang et al.

Summary: The novel synthesis of metal-phthalocyanine-based p-type semiconducting 2D c-MOF films with unprecedented edge-on layer orientation at the air/water interface was reported. The unique layer orientation allowed for investigation of lateral and vertical conductivities, revealing anisotropic charge transport properties. Directional conductivity studies identified that intrinsic conductivity is dominated by charge transfer along the interlayer pathway, demonstrating potential for various optoelectronic applications.
