Synergic coordination and precipitation effects induced by free carboxyl for separation of iron(III) and nickel(II) in zirconium-metal-organic framework

Xudong Zhao et al.

Summary: The study found that UiO-66-(COOH)2 exhibits excellent performance in separating Fe3+ and Ni2+, with fast kinetics and good anti-interference ability. A higher pH is beneficial for the separation process, and the material can be easily reused through a simple acid-wash method. The coordination of Fe3+ with free carboxyl and precipitation effect contribute to the high-efficiency separation, as confirmed by XPS, FTIR, and SEM analyses.

Mn(II)/Co(II)-based metal-organic frameworks assembled by 5,5′-(1,4-xylylenediamino) diisophthalic acid and various nitrogen-containing ligands for photocatalytic and magnetic properties

Cungang Xu et al.

Summary: Three novel Mn(II)/Co(II)-based 3D metal-organic frameworks have been successfully synthesized using mixed-ligand as functionalized organic linker. These MOFs exhibited efficient photocatalytic abilities to degrade aromatic dyes, with MOFs 2 and 3 showing the best performance under UV irradiation. The possible catalytic mechanism was explored and discussed, while variable-temperature magnetic analyses indicated weak antiferromagnetic behavior between Mn(II)/Co(II) ions in these MOFs.

Enhanced performance of carbon-coated manganese catalysts derived from metal-organic framework for rechargeable zinc-air batteries

Sheraz Ahmed et al.

Summary: The wide structural versatility of Metal-Organic Framework (MOF) makes it a potential catalyst. In this study, [Mn(BDC)·nDMF](n) was synthesized and calcined to form Mn-MOF derived catalysts (C@MnO catalysts). Ni deposition resulted in Ni@C@MnO, which showed high catalytic activity and stability as a cathode for Zinc-air battery.

Fe-Based Coordination Polymers as Battery-Type Electrodes in Semi-Solid-State Battery-Supercapacitor Hybrid Devices

Kuaibing Wang et al.

Summary: Two-dimensional Fe-based metal-organic framework (FeSC1) and one-dimensional coordination polymer (FeSC2) were synthesized through reaction among FeSO4 center dot 7H(2)O, the tripodal ligand 4,4',4 ''-s-triazine-2,4,6-triyl-tribenzoate (H(3)TATB), and flexible secondary building blocks p/m-bis((1H-imidazole-1-yl)methyl)benzene (bib). Both materials showed outstanding electrochemical performances, with charge storage mainly dominated by diffusion-controlled section through power-law equations (i proportional to v(0.5)). Long-term cycling loops also revealed partial phase transformations to more stable FeOOH.
