Transient response and failure of medium density fibreboard panels subjected to air-blast loading

G. S. Langdon et al.

Summary: This study investigates the response and failure of MDF panels subjected to air-blast loading, providing unique insights into the cracking and fragmentation of MDF. The experimental results show that blast-loaded MDF panels exhibit multiple surface cracks, substantial in-plane cracking, and reduced stiffness due to internal damage caused by cracking. The findings from this study can be valuable for blast protection engineers and modellers simulating damage from explosive events involving MDF furnishings.

A Review on Mechanical Properties of Natural Fibre Reinforced Polymer Composites under Various Strain Rates

Tan Ke Khieng et al.

Summary: With the rapid technological evolution, there is a growing demand for high-performance and sustainable natural fiber reinforced polymer composites (NFPCs). However, the mechanical properties of NFPCs are strain-rate dependent due to the viscoelastic nature of polymers. Factors such as natural filler properties, quantity, and polymer matrix type play a significant role in influencing the performance of composites.
