Interior and Exterior Decoration of Transition Metal Oxide Through Cu0/Cu+ Co-Doping Strategy for High-Performance Supercapacitor

Weifeng Liu et al.

Summary: A facile strategy was proposed to construct novel CoO and NiO electrode materials with interior (Cu+) and exterior (metallic Cu0) decoration for supercapacitors, significantly enhancing their electrochemical performance. The co-doping of Cu0/Cu+ effectively improved the conductivity and electron transport rate of CoO, resulting in higher specific capacitance and cycle stability.

Activating ORR and OER in Ruddlesden-Popper based catalysts by enhancing interstitial oxygen and lattice oxygen redox reactions

Baoyi Yin et al.

Summary: This study did not detect oxygen vacancies in the perovskite-like layer of RP materials and proposed that more interstitial O2- and high-active lattice oxygen ions are determinant factors for activating ORR and OER. Doping high-valence ions can enhance redox reactions, improve lattice-oxygen activity, and interstitial O2- concentration, thereby benefiting ORR and OER activity.

Unlocking the Potential of Oxygen-Deficient Copper-Doped Co3O4 Nanocrystals Confined in Carbon as an Advanced Electrode for Flexible Solid-State Supercapacitors

Shude Liu et al.

Summary: Incorporating Cu dopants and O vacancies into Co3O4 nanocrystals confined in a carbon matrix, termed as O-v-Cu-Co3O4@C, helps improve the specific capacity and rate performance of the material. The heterostructured architecture with multifunctional nanogeometries enables high intercomponent synergy, leading to enhanced electrical conductivity and enriched redox chemistry, ultimately resulting in a significantly improved energy density of 64.1 W h kg(-1) at 800 W kg(-1) for asymmetric supercapacitors.
