Direct Self-Assembly of MXene on Zn Anodes for Dendrite-Free Aqueous Zinc-Ion Batteries

Nannan Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, an ultrathin and uniform MXene layer was assembled on the surface of zinc anodes using an in situ spontaneously reducing/assembling strategy. The integrated MXene layer reduced the zinc nucleation energy barrier and provided a more uniformly distributed electric field, resulting in low voltage hysteresis and excellent cycling stability with dendrite-free behaviors in zinc-ion batteries.

Uniform Zn Deposition Achieved by Ag Coating for Improved Aqueous Zinc-Ion Batteries

Qiongqiong Lu et al.

Summary: A facile surface chemistry route has been developed to create an Ag coating on zinc metal, guiding uniform zinc deposition and improving electrochemical performance of ZIBs. Direct visualization and microscopy images confirm uniform zinc deposition on Ag-coated Zn anodes, enabling sustained plating/stripping cycles and improved performance in full cells paired with a V2O5-based cathode.
