Vibronic Coupling Effect on the Vibrationally Resolved Electronic Spectra and Intersystem Crossing Rates of a TADF Emitter: 7-PhQAD

Sirong Lin et al.

Summary: Assessing and improving the performance of organic light-emitting diode (OLED) materials requires quantitative prediction of rate coefficients for intersystem crossing (ISC) and reverse ISC (RISC) processes, which is influenced by various factors including energy gap, direct spin-orbit coupling (SOC), and non-Condon effects. In this study, time-dependent correlation function approaches were used to calculate the vibrational resolved absorption and fluorescence spectra and ISC/RISC rates of a newly synthesized multiple-resonance-type thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitter. The results suggest that the vibronic coupling and spin-vibronic coupling have significant influences on the ISC rates, while the HTVC effect slightly affects the absorption and fluorescence spectra.

Rational design of CN substituted dibenzo[a,c]phenazine acceptor for color tuning of thermally activated delayed fluorescent emitters

Shantaram Kothavale et al.

Summary: Long-wavelength TADF emitters with different emission wavelengths can be developed by adjusting the number and substitution position of donor/acceptor units. Increasing the number of cyano units can reduce the energy gap and singlet-triplet energy gap. Among the two donor-substitution positions of BP acceptor, the TADF emitter with 11-position substitution exhibits higher efficiency.

Vibrational Damping Reveals Vibronic Coupling in Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence Materials

Matthias Hempe et al.

Summary: In this study, D-A molecules consisting of spiro[acridan-9,9'-fluorene] as the donor and 2-phenylenepyrimidine as the acceptor were investigated. The impact of substituents on vibronic coupling efficiency between singlet and triplet states, and the influence of adamantyl groups on intramolecular motions, were observed. The findings highlight the complexity of vibronic couplings in mediating reverse intersystem crossing and suggest a potential synthetic tool for future investigations in this area.

Molecular Vibration Accelerates Charge Transfer Emission in a Highly Twisted Blue Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence Material

Yoshimasa Wada et al.

Summary: Efficient organic light-emitting diodes rely on well-balanced transition dipole moments and small energy splitting between excited singlet and triplet states, with some highly twisted donor-acceptor-type TADF molecules showing high performance despite sacrificing the former for the latter. Study suggests that the dynamics of excitons play a critical role in such TADF systems.

Simple, reliable, and universal metrics of molecular planarity

Tian Lu

Summary: This paper introduces two metrics, MPP and SDP, for measuring the planarity of molecules. These metrics can be used to study the planarity of the entire molecule, measure the planarity of local structures, and even analyze the variation of molecular planarity during dynamic processes. Additionally, a new representation method based on coloring atoms according to their deviation distance from the fitting plane is proposed, which proves to be very useful in graphically exhibiting molecular planarity.
