Facile synthesis of a novel photocatalyst with integrated features for industrial effluents treatment

Sheraz Bashir et al.

Summary: The study successfully synthesized a composite material Gd-BiYO3/rGO, demonstrating its high photocatalytic activity and significantly improved degradation efficiency compared to pure BiYO3 and Gd-BiYO3. This superior performance is mainly attributed to the excellent charge transfer and separation efficiency of Gd-BiYO3/rGO.

MoO3/g-C3N4 Z-scheme (S-scheme) system derived from MoS2/melamine dual precursors for enhanced photocatalytic H2 evolution driven by visible light

Jinwen Shi et al.

Summary: A dual-precursors co-pyrolysis strategy was used to prepare MoO3/g-C3N4 composite photocatalysts, showing improved photocatalytic performance under visible-light irradiation. The MoS2 precursor facilitated intimate contact with g-C3N4 nanosheets and high dispersity of MoO3, while the strong interaction between MoO3 and g-C3N4 altered the morphology and electronic structure of g-C3N4, generating an efficient Z scheme system in the composite. This cooperative effect significantly enhanced the activity of photocatalytic H-2 evolution, providing valuable insight for the construction of composite photocatalyst systems for visible-light-driven H-2 evolution.

Boosting thermo-photocatalytic CO2 conversion activity by using photosynthesis-inspired electron-proton-transfer mediators

Yingxuan Li et al.

Summary: Mimicking natural photosynthesis using plasmonic Bi as an electron-proton-transfer mediator can effectively convert CO2 to CO. The two-step strategy avoids O-2 separation and enables a high CO production efficiency without sacrificial reagents. The use of a single catalyst to spatially and temporally separate hydrogen splitting and CO2 reduction reactions in the CO2-to-CO conversion process remains a challenge, but the authors have successfully demonstrated this using a Bi catalyst.

Approach of fermi level and electron-trap level in cadmium sulfide nanorods via molybdenum doping with enhanced carrier separation for boosted photocatalytic hydrogen production

Changfa Guo et al.

Summary: A facile one-pot solvothermal strategy was used to synthesize Mo-doped CdS nanorods in this study, which exhibited significantly enhanced photocatalytic activity with an H-2 production rate of 14.62 mmol.g(-1).h(-1) without the need for Pt as a co-catalyst, about 5.8 times higher than bare CdS. This work provides new insight into the facile synthesis of visible-light-driven photocatalysts and the effect of metal ion doping on the modulation of electronic structures.

Disclosure of charge storage mechanisms in molybdenum oxide nanobelts with enhanced supercapacitive performance induced by oxygen deficiency

Ping Qin et al.

Summary: This study enhances the supercapacitance storage of MoO2.39 by introducing oxygen vacancies in MoO3 nanobelts, mainly attributed to proton adsorption at the O1 sites and interlayer spacing expansion. Roughly 98% of the initial supercapacitance is retained after 1000 cycles, highlighting the reversible change in interlayer spacing as a key factor in maintaining supercapacitance.

Molybdenum impregnated g-C3N4 nanotubes as potentially active photocatalyst for renewable energy applications

Naseer Iqbal et al.

Summary: Molybdenum impregnated g-C3N4 nanotubes, fabricated through a thermal/hydrothermal process, exhibit enhanced photoelectrochemical properties for solar-driven water-splitting reactions. The nanotubes show nanocrystalline triazine-based g-C3N4 morphology with high sp(2)-hybridized nitrogen content and metallic/oxidized Mo nanoparticles impregnated. The composite material displays high photocurrent efficiency and low charge transfer resistance, making it a promising photocatalytic material for viable solar-driven water splitting.
